Is it really possible to make money online without building a website?
Yes, absolutely. In fact, you don’t have to spend a dime to make money online.
However, and here is the real decision maker – it’s probably going to take you a lot of time to make a decent amount of money, without making the smallest investment.
But if this is how your current circumstance is right now, I suggest following these simple steps. So, yes is it possible to earn affiliate income without building a website, and there are plenty of ways in which you can do this.
Here are some simple steps to get you started
Step 1 – Make a plan
Planning your make money for free campaign should be your first step. Either write everything out or better still, use a spreadsheet.
Step 2 – Decide on a niche/topic
Deciding on a niche with which you want to make money with is important to the longevity of your efforts and could even decide if your campaign will work in the first place.
Choose a topic which you interests you and one which you know a lot about. Or you could choose one which you have always wanted to find out more about, but never got around to it. This could be your chance to delve deep into that subject.
But make sure that there are affiliate marketing products associated with this subject, which you can make money with.
Step 3 – Decide on an affiliate merchant and a product
Once you have chosen a topic to make money in, your next step will be to choose a free platform where you can get affiliate links from. Or if you don’t want to add affiliate links, your next best option is Google Adsense.
With Adsense, all you have to do is set up a free account with ‘G’ and just copy and paste some code. This does however require a little bit of messing around switching between normal view and html view, where you are adding your content.
However the way I am going to show you to make money on the internet is to use both affiliate links and Adsense.
Depending on the niche, I would use either Amazon affiliate products or Clickbank.
NB: Don’t use Clickbank if you are going to set up a campaign for the home business arena. The competition is vast and you could get people stealing your commissions. Nasty!
Getting Affiliate Links from Amazon Affiliate Program
This is the simplest way. Once you’ve set up your free affiliate account, go to the ‘links & banners’ tab at the top of the page. Then open up a normal Amazon page (where you would buy something), and choose a product.
Scroll down to the ASIN code (which will be listed on the left hand side), highlight and copy it. Then paste the code into the search box and click ‘go’.
On the next screen – right hand side, next to the product and price – click the ‘get link’ box. Then you have a choice of whether to use text only or text and image for people to click on and buy the product.
Just highlight the html code and paste into your site. Again you have a little bit of messing around to do with editor view and html view, but it is quite simple really.
Step 4 – Choose where you are going to add your content
The platform I would choose is Hubpages, because the set up is so simple and it so user friendly.
There are other freebie websites which you could choose, but Hubpages has the advantage of being a Web 2.0 platform as well.
And what this means for you is that there is a community of people from all walks of life there, with whom you can network.
You can add and receive comments, ask and answer questions, link to other users you like and they also have a forum where you can offer your advice to potential customers and get advice from other hubbers on stuff which you are not sure about.
Another great advantage of using Hubs, is that you don’t have to stick to one topic. You could write ten hubs about dog training, another ten articles about train spotting (not my thing, but hey!) and then another ten Hubs on the topic of keeping goldfish!
Hubpages is extremely versatile. You can write and publish content on pretty much any subject you choose. So go and set up your new site at Hubpages.com and you will be almost ready to post your content.
You can find some great Hubpages writing tips on my article titled, how to make money on Hubpages.
And with this Web 2.0 platform, the difficult part of adding affiliate links and Adsense code has been done for you.
All you have to do is add your own profile ID and you’ll earn the cash when people buy from your content (They do obviously take a small cut, but it still pays well).
This is one of my Hubpages profiles. I haven’t done too much work with it recently, but it is profitable for me and I’ve only written twenty Hubs in total, but I retain a high ‘Hubscore’.
Step 5 – Keyword research
Keyword research, although a science which forms a huge part of my job, can also be done for free. Obviously, you won’t find the same quality or sheer amount of keywords available as a paid resource, but one of the best keyword research tools is Market Samurai which you can use (a part of) for free (permanently I believe).
NB: You can use the paid version for free for seven days.
Once you have then earned enough, I would recommend getting the paid version because it is simply one of the best keyword tools out there.
Also refer (and check the words which the free version of Market Samurai returns) with the Google Keyword Tool. You can get hundreds of keywords from there, or you can use the free version of Wordtracker.
Also refer to the Wordtracker question tool. When entering your search phrase, use singular and plurals for the same word/words, as it does not do both in one search.
As for adding keywords into your content, make sure you use your main keyword in the title and also the URL, then mention it a few times throughout the article.
Also pick another two related keywords and add them into your content a few times, to make your article more keyword rich.
Step 6 – Get traffic and clicks
Ok, so you write your article, you’ve added a few pictures and maybe a video taken perhaps from Youtube (or made your own) and you’ve added your money making links to it, then the next step is to get people to read your content.
First lets start with Hubpages users
On a daily basis, add at least ten comments to other peoples pages. Don’t leave crappy comments though. This Is IMPORTANT. Either scan over the article and leave a comment relating to something which you found useful, or read the whole thing and do the same.
This will get several, if not all of the hubbers over to your articles for a read of your profile and articles and click one of your affiliate links
Also start adding people and leave them fanmail, again about 5 to 10 each day (depending on how much time you have spare) and this will again turn people’s heads towards your work. This may sound lame, or over done, but it really does work with Hubpages because the community at large is sociable.
The next thing you want to do is boost your hub’s search engine ranking, by getting a variety of inbound links.
You can easily do this by writing 300 – 500 word articles and then submitting them to article directories like Ezinearticles, Goarticles, Articledashboard, Articlebiz, Articlecity, Articlealley, Articlebase and many more.
Next you want to bookmark your Hub’s and bookmark your Ezine articles.
These are the automated free bookmarking tools which I use.
This will make your work a million miles an hour quicker, and your content gets submitted to around 30 social bookmarking sites.
You can even make videos about your chosen niche and upload them to Youtube, Dailymotion and Metacafe. There are others, but these are the only ones I use.
These won’t generate backlinks as such, but they will be inbound links brining traffic from the video platforms and search engine results. Make sure you put a short description and your Hubpage URL in the description box.
Keep adding articles as often as you can, about five per week and you will see the traffic to your affiliate links rise every day, making more money for you.
